Expert Training Event
Sexuality and Inappropriate Sexual/Violent Behaviours
in People with an Intellectual Disability
Why should I participate?
Sexuality has long been recognised as a need inherent in each human being. Nevertheless, sexuality in people with an intellectual disability is an issue that creates difficulty for many services working with these clients. Clients' sexual needs frequently remain unmet, which can lead to their expression in inappropriate ways. If this happens, these sexualised or violent behaviours are challenging for staff involved with the client.
How will it benefit me?
Who will facilitate this training?
The training will be conducted by two senior clinicians, who have extensive experience working with a forensic population and with people with an intellectual disability who display challenging behaviours.
Is it any good?
99% of previous participants would recommend this training to a colleague.
Here is some more feedback we have received:
“It put sexuality on the table and is taking the taboo out of sexuality in service provision”
“Good ideas on how to help those with an ID meet their sexual needs”
“I enjoyed the interactive nature of the training. The presenters were knowledgeable and able to give real life examples, which were a great help. Best workshop I’ve been to!”
“It was an open discussion about a topic that is often not discussed and it was done in a comfortable yet professional manner”
